Beats Earbuds Hit Record Low for Prime Day

The Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 are now at their lowest price since launch, dropping to $179.95 during Prime Day. That’s a 28% discount off the original $249.99 retail price, according to price trackers.

These wireless earbuds share many features with the AirPods Pro 2, including active noise cancellation, transparency mode, and seamless integration with the Apple ecosystem. The key difference is the design: instead of a stem, they use flexible ear hooks made from nickel-titanium alloy. Launched in February 2025, they were positioned as a direct alternative to the AirPods Pro 2 in both pricing and functionality, catering to users who prioritize a secure fit for active use.

The hooks conform to the ear without clamping, which helps keep them in place during workouts. A review noted they stay put through runs, lifting, and other high-movement activities where standard earbuds might slip. This flexibility is due to the nickel-titanium alloy, which allows the hooks to adjust to different ear shapes while maintaining a snug, non-intrusive hold.

Each earbud has physical controls—a multifunction button and a volume rocker—making them easier to use with sweaty fingers than touch-sensitive models. The multifunction button handles playback, calls, and mode switching, while the volume rocker provides precise adjustments without requiring touch sensitivity. They’re also IPX4-rated, so they can handle sweat and light rain, making them suitable for outdoor and intense training sessions.

Battery life reaches up to 10 hours with noise cancellation off, or 8 hours with ANC or transparency mode enabled. The case extends total playback to around 45 hours, reducing the need for frequent charging during extended use.

Four ear tip sizes come in the box, and a proper fit improves both sound quality and noise cancellation. The inclusion of multiple tip sizes ensures a better seal, which enhances bass response and passive noise isolation. The default audio tuning leans bass-heavy, which suits hip-hop or electronic music best, appealing to users who prefer a more pronounced low-end in their audio.

The earbuds include built-in heart-rate sensors, but their accuracy can vary with fit. As one editor noted, they’re not a replacement for a dedicated fitness tracker like a chest strap or smartwatch. While convenient for casual monitoring, the sensors rely on consistent contact with the skin, which can be disrupted by movement or improper ear tip selection.

Prime Day runs through June 26, but other retailers are matching the discounts. Walmart’s competing sale starts June 22 and runs through June 28, with deals up to 50% off. Best Buy and Target are also running similar promotions during the same window, with Target’s sale aligning directly with Prime Day’s dates. These competing events provide additional options for shoppers without Amazon Prime memberships or those seeking alternative deals.
